A little about ourselves |
|
Welcome to my blog. I am a natural parent who myself lost 1 of my 4 children to forced adoption in 2006. Although i was treated badly by the Local Authority, Guardian Ad Litem and not represented properly by my legal team, i bear no grudges with my natural son's Adoptive Parent. She had said that when my natural son was older and should he request face to face contact, he can.
I was fortunate to that of many other parents in that sense because i know who my natural son's Adoptive Parent is. She had previously been his Foster Carer. My choices were narrowed down to my natural son potentially being placed with total strangers, with the Foster Carer he was with or myself his natural mother. I preferred him to stay with his Foster Carer who had established a bond with him should the Judge decide he could not be placed at home with me. I thought and still think of my natural son often and like his Adoptive Parent does, i love him too. 'Double The Love' means he does not need to feel rejection or worry, because he gets to have the support of both sets of parents. This is although, in the eyes of the law, his Adoptive Parent is recognised as his mum. My aim is to promote more open adoptions where this can be done, because i believe it to be in the child's best interests where this option is viable. My natural son has now found me aged 16 and this is in the UK, whereby Children's Services and his Adoptive parent are aware and we (my natural son and i) are both currently in touch. |
